Production questions

How is hydrogen water generated? A PEM/SPE cell splits deionised water; the hydrogen is dissolved into the water volume while oxygen is separated at the membrane and vented.

What does PEM/SPE purity mean? Proton conduction happens in a solid polymer membrane rather than a circulating alkaline solution, so there is no caustic electrolyte to carry into the water.

Why does concentration fall after production? Hydrogen has low solubility in water and escapes to the headspace, so concentration decays with time, temperature and agitation.

What formats exist? Portable bottles with an integrated cell, bench machines with a separate dissolution stage, and plumbed systems characterised at a tap point.
