Emissions and Hydrogen Enrichment

Hydrogen enrichment consistently reduces products of incomplete combustion. It does not reduce every pollutant, and the NOₓ question must be addressed directly rather than skipped.

Reductions commonly reported

  • Smoke opacity and particulate mass, especially at mid to high load
  • Carbon monoxide
  • Unburned hydrocarbons
  • CO₂ in proportion to any fuel reduction achieved

The NOₓ disclosure

Faster, more complete combustion raises peak in-cylinder temperature, which can increase NOₓ formation. Published studies frequently report a smoke/NOₓ trade-off. Operators subject to NOₓ limits should validate on their own equipment and should not assume simultaneous reductions across all species.

After-treatment compatibility

The system does not interfere with DPF, SCR, EGR or urea dosing. It is fitted upstream of combustion and does not alter fuel delivery or engine management.
